MUNICIPAL WASTE are set to return to Europe in early 2010 as part of their ‘Waste the World’ headlining tour. Following their round of European festival appearances and their MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE European tour this September, MUNICIPAL WASTE will be seeing out the year with a North American trek, then having a few weeks rest before kicking off the European leg of their tour in mid-January. Support on the North American leg of the tour will come from CAULDRON, with VICTIMS and REPROACH supporting the band in Europe.

The eighth studio album from Gov’t Mule, By a Thread (track-list below) will be released on October 27, 2009. Additionally the band has announced tour dates in Europe in support of the album. Details along with a live performance video are after the jump. Produced by Gordie Johnson, the album was recorded at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio. The band, which dates back to 1994 as originally a side project of the Allman Brothers, is presently comprised of Warren Haynes (who cofounded the band along with the late Allen Woody), Matt Abts, Danny Louis, Jorgen Carlsson.

All volcanic eruptions are dangerous and powerful, obviously, but, among them, the Plinian type takes the cake. It includes extremely intense eruptions that regularly take place after many years of volcanic inactivity, and it is, at times (but not always), preceded by short periods of seismic activity. For the first time ever, scientists have recently been able to measure the speed at which magma rises from the interior of the volcano to the surface, AlphaGalileo reports.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer isn't one to hide his hopes under a basket, but instead prefers to shout them from whatever pedestal happens to be nearby. So it has been odd to see Ballmer holding back in his responses to recent questions about Windows 7 adoption and its potential impact on the industry.In a Wednesday press conference in Munich, Germany, Ballmer was asked whether he expects Windows 7 to provide a catalyst for sagging PC sales.

While Irish rock band U2 is still in the middle of their North American 360 stadium tour, they are already planning to come back next summer, according to CHARTattack. The band’s website has yet to release any dates, but a USA Today article says the band will begin their second leg of a North American tour in Mexico City, Mexico on May 30, 2010. The tour is then expected to continue through June and July, hitting cities not visited this year. U2 already hit Toronto and Vancouver on their current tour.

This is one of the most unusual motorcycles I’ve seen in a long time: it’s a ‘ Killinger und Freund ’ built in 1935 in Munich, Germany. The art deco styling is obviously eye-catching, but it’s hiding something even more interesting: this machine is a front-wheel-drive motorcycle, like the Rokon . And underneath that huge front fender is the engine itself. The motor is a sizeable 600 cc two-stroke triple—or perhaps three one-cylinder engines joined together. Yet the bike was reportedly very light, at just 135 kg.
